I noticed Ann Other's new story, The Bartender. And noticed that it does not seem to have a "comment" link. Was just wondering if that was a feature or a bug. Or perhaps a personal problem.
Awaiting with anticipation

Ann Other has stated she doesn't want comments
...and apparently when Erin mentioned we have the option
of disabling comments on a story, she took it.
It's nice to have options + to each her own...
Call me insecure or an
attention hog, but I'll take those comments!
To me posting a story and not getting feedback
feels like dropping it down a well. I can do that at home.
I am willing to risk the occasional comment opining that
I'm a shitty writer, a horrible person and should die in a fire.
I'll also take any kudos, belly rubs or Scoobie snacks
anyone has in response to any of my scribblings.

,
(when I saw your blog title I thought for a second you knew Ann's
preference and were determined to comment anyway- LOL
But I know you wouldn't do that...)

Thanks for the note. I had no idea.
It would be nice if disabling comments also put a note on the page saying that that comments were disabled.
If the code for this site was up on a source code repo like github or gitlab I might try to make the patch and throw a pull request upstream.

It does leave a note, down at the bottom
It says, comments read only.

I'm sure you are right.
I'm sure you are right. Still I'm unable to find the text: "comments read only" on that page or in the html source.
I do see the text
"If you liked this post, you can leave a comment and/or a kudos!"
and
"And please, remember to comment, too! Thanks."
but not
"comments read only"
anywhere on the story page.
Do I have some option or setting set wrong? I'd love to understand what I'm doing wrong.

I don't know
Perhaps you have a page in your cache before the author turned comments off.

My experience
My experience differs from yours. Thanks for keeping this service running.
And thanks for putting up with your dumb users.
I'll take my jacks and go home now.

Comments?
I just looked at the story. My version does not say "comments read only" as does yours, and at the bottom it says "And please, remember to comment, too! Thanks." It couldn't be my cache, because I had not looked at this story previously.
