lets hope its a good one, with plenty of cheer (to paraphrase Noddy Holder)

So i said i'd be back 'next year' and here i am!

Well since yesterdays post i've been a busy little Maddy. Yesterday afternoon i started off by going for a bike ride, not that far, a mere 50km but it did involve climbing some 900m, reaching over 300m ASL and traversing a 28% incline before i stopped at the famous polka dot cafe at Langsett for tea and a bun. The return was less traumatic on the legs being largely downhill as i followed the Don valley into and through Sheffield back to Dad's cottage.

Next up was cooking tea, a spag bol before we entertained ourselves through to what has become a firework fest, the passing of the years. We watched the London display on the box, toasted the New Year and turned in.

January 1st, yep that's today well i got myself organised for an earlier ride to welcome 2023 and got a bit soggy for my troubles! I hadn't planned on a long ride anyway but the damp weather scuppered any thoughts of an extension so, having traversed the city from east to west, @ 20km i looped up to the southern border, dipping briefly into Derbyshire before taking a less direct route back to east Sheffield. Twenty 32 damp kilometres was enough.

Showered and changed it was time to start on lunch, a plate of lamb, taters and four veg then after a short rest, Christmas pudding, something we missed in Germany. It's been my last full day in GOC and beyond, tomorrow i catch the bus for the 300km journey back to Brizzle, i'm quite sad to leave again but i will be back in the spring so something to look forward to.

I promised pictures, i'll get them sorted for Wednesday, i promise. In the meantime you can read 'Home Cooking', chapter 10 of Only Five Minutes, the 25th Gaby book. At this point i should thank everyone who has bought any of my scribbles, you really are appreciated and i hope that in 2023 i can be a bit more productive, finish some outstanding stories and get you some more Gaby too, so Thank You one and all.

So that's it from Yorkshire, normal service from Bristol will resume on Wednesday.

Tschussie,
Madeline Anafrid
