And instead of the thousand-plus-dollar expense I was expecting, the actual price was $460.

Five years ago, I started a new job and was broke. Wrote of my car off on the way home on the second day. Spent the last of my money, £400 on a replacement. two weeks later the cam belt snapped which effectively wrote that one off.

You start to think someone has got it in for you. My brother loaned me an old car, which saw me through to the end of the month, when I had to buy a replacement , so was broke again.

Five years later I have a car financed by the company , enough money in the bank to buy a brand new car and no debts. Sometimes the bad luck turns into good.
