Janegirl Camp age groups

I was thinking about Janegirl Camp being split into 3 age groups, and each group would attend camp at different times. The first group would be ages 7-9, the second group would be 10-12 (Zee's age group), and the third age group would be ages 13-15. I was also thinking of giving each group a different name, but I'm not sure if I like the names or not yet. The first group would be called Caterpillar, the second group would be called Chrysalis, and the third group would be called Butterfly. I kinda like Butterfly, but I was worried some kids would go "Eww...bugs!" to Caterpillar, and Chrysalis might seem a bit boring.

Anybody have any thoughts about the group names I was thinking about, or what other names might work? I'm planning on naming the camp cabins after flowers, so I'm not sure about doing the same with the age groups, but it's still something I'd consider. If you have any other ideas about the age groups, I'd love to hear them! :)

Names...

The only alternative group names that randomly popped into mind were "hummingbirds", "robins", and "doves". Dunno if that's helpful or not!

Oooo...

That sounds cute! I hadn't thought of using bird names. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Big Sisters

One of the features you may want to include is the concept of "Big Sisters" Where older campers returning to came can come and be big sisters to the younger groups. Or previous campers acting as cabin counselors.

Just a thought taken from my kids Outdoor School experience.

Big sister...

...dynamic sounds like something that would work well with what I'm imagining happens at Janegirl Camp. I can see the cabin counselor I'm introducing in the chapter I'm working on having been a camper. Thanks for your suggestion! :)

mixed age

I think that having all ages at each camp week might be a good idea. It gives an opportunity for older sibling dynamics.
Maybe even as an assignment.

So far as naming goes then you can have age pairs, say Doe andl fawn, Hen and chic, Filly and foal, Cats and kittens, Roo and Joey, Frog and tadpole, Swan and cygnet. For example.

Just a thought.

Having a day...

...when campers from different age groups sounds like an interesting idea! Maybe it could happen at the Saturday Social, which I was thinking might happen at the end of the first week of camp. I also like your group name suggestions. Thank you! :)
