Big surprise. Just when I think my life is back on track, I get FUCKED OVER AGAIN.

NYSEQ increased my Budget Billing to $210 a month, which I can't afford half of on top of the $80 a month I shell out for internet. Add insult to injury, I'm supposed to pay $400 by the end of April. For some stupid reason.

I WANT TO DIE NOW.

Poverty is expensive. What is something we can do to help?

Low Income Energy Assistance Program

EOF,

Are you eligible for the Heating and Energy Assistance Program in your state? If I remember correctly from a long ago post, you live in New York. Here is the link to the New York Program:

https://otda.ny.gov/programs/heap/https://otda.ny.gov/progra...

If my memory is bad and you aren't in New York, just do a search for "Low Income Heating and Energy Assistance" and add in the state in which you live. Eligibility is based on income and/ or other probram enrollment. In NY state, the income limit for eligibility, is $2610.00 for someone living alone and $3,413.00 for a two person household.

Also, you should be getting a tax stimulus check for $1,400.00 if you haven't already received it.

Good luck.

Stimulus

I don't file taxes, I don't have a job. I don't get a stimulus check.

That doesn't sound right

Even if you're a nonfiler, you should still be able to file 2020 taxes based on having to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit. Try entering whatever information you can in one of the IRS's Free File partners and see what you're eligible for. Income is NOT a requirement for stimulus money.

Any way to lower your energy bill?

I never exceed for an all electric house in Winter 200 a month. My average Summer bill will AC set to 78 is under a hundred and it is on all the time.

Granted I use a heat pump and I am not in a super low rate state either.

Internet

Is that $US? If yes that's excessive. What benefits do that include (speed? data volume limit? mobile? ).

Internet

Yes. $80 per month is excessive. I have AT&T 300 mbps fiber service, but I actually get between 340 and 360 mbps download and 350 to 370 mbps upload for about $55 per month. No usage cap, either. No mobile access (other than Wi-Fi), but I don't have a smartphone anyway.

Cable

Enemyoffun's picture

There are no other providers of Cable in my area. The only other thing we have around here is Direct TV. I'm pretty sure they're the only two internet providers around here too. DirectTV wants a credit card, which I do not have. Besides $80 a month for my internet is not that bad.

Ask for Help

A good friend of mine, Percy Ross, made a lot of money in plastics and investing in Hollywood films.

He became a philanthropist and gave away $millions.

It was his contention that one of the consistent errors made by people who need help is -- NOT -- asking for help.

People enjoy helping others. If your plea is sincere and valid you will be doing them a favor by asking.

Good luck.
