Chapter 1 out now!

Okay peeps, we'll get to the exciting (sic) stuff soon but lets catch up on the week first.

Thursday, bike day, I wasn't feeling like a long ride a ride out east was suggested so I'd get a bit of assistance on the way back and so I set off under the cloudy countenance. I had thought to stop at Malmesbury but I got there quite quickly and thought Royal Wootton Bassett would be better and when I got there - well I headed towards Swindon before climbing onto the North Wiltshire Downs and swinging south to Avebury. I did stop there, you know the place, big rocks, even bigger ditch, road through the middle?

Anyhow, I had my lunch sat on the surrounding bank then set off for the return. The sun had made an appearance by now, unlike Tuesday it was less humid though and my ride through Devizes, Corsham and Bath was quite enjoyable - especially the ice cream stop at Box! distance was almost identical to Tuesday at a smidge over 140km.

Friday was supposed to be writing but my head just wasn't into it so apart from doing a bit with Bev in the garden and getting some shopping, I didn't succeed in doing much.

The forecast for Saturday was showers so rather than put the ride off to today (light rain), I donned my jacket and set off into a light drizzle. By now the wind was coming out of the north, quite warm but laden with liquid. Out to the Cotswolds then and north towards Cirencester, the damp coming and going almost by the minute. I followed the lanes to miss the town and ended up having my lunch in a bus shelter just north the Gloucester road.

The return, with minimal assistance and greasy descents was via Stroud then the lanes to Cam and back to Brizzle, just shy of 150km and taking the downhills cautiously cost me some speed. Hopefully next time out will be a little more pleasant.

And so to today, the expected rain didn't materialise but I stuck to my plan and completed the next Gaby chapter, cooked a fruit crumble and did a bit more garden digging. I've also organised a flying visit to Yorkshire next week - its #1 daughters birthday and I want to see friends and family I've not seen for best part of 5 months due to Covid restrictions. So a heads up, there may be no or delayed postings on the 23rd and 26th as they are my travel days. In the meantime i'll be writing again tomorrow, its a nasty forecast so I doubt i'll get further than the supermarket for a walk.

Its a two chapter day today, Tracking is ch 23 of Summer Girl and Family is the first chapter of the 23rd volume of Gaby tales, Avoidance. I hope you enjoy reading them and please do comment.

More on Wednesday
Wiedersehn and I'll see you next time!
