Forums:
I remember reading a story a while ago but unfortunately didn't save it and now i can't find it
bits i remember,
an around teenage boy saw a dress in a window of a boutique and became obsessed with it
owner of boutique convinced him to wear it and go to a salon
as payment owner convinced/blackmailed the boy into participating in a parade on a float, and then attend a ball/dance at some sort of community centre
unfortunately i don't even remember if the story was on this site or another, if anyone has a clue i would be very greatful
thanks

Lots of stories but I am having trouble...
My first thought was Fashion Star by Paula Dillon.
But, seems like there is another story that fits your description better. Seems the choice was to march with the band or ride the float.
Southern belle costume
Your comment stirred a memory. I can't remember the title or author but there was a story that at one point has the main character dressed as a southern belle with hoop skirt riding on a float in a parade.
Could it be
or
Maggie Finsons "Southern Belle"
I do remember a 'Caught With Consequences' story where a teen was goaded into shop liftting by his peers, and was caught, they all go off to camp, while he becomes a ward of the manageress of the shop.
Check this one
I wonder if this is the one you are thinking of "You Chose the Wrong Store" by Jessica C. https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/45143/you-chose-wrong...
its not any of the ones that
its not any of the ones that have been posted so far, thanks for the attempts though and some decent reads anyway
Maybe...
Maybe...
it's Birthday Blues by Shauna?
Or Angharad's Bicycle Repair Man?
Or maybe it's a combination of stories?
I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime
it possibly is a combination
it possibly is a combination of stories, but i am sure it was a single story
