Many of us of the fantasy of being a little boy dressed up by his mother, sister, etc. My wife and I saw one at Church Easter Sunday that will undoubtedly ring a bell with those interested in that sort of thing.
There's a single woman who attends our Church who has a little boy, about age 5. Not in kindergarden yet, but we think he is probably in a Headstart program or something. Anyway, he has very long hair, sort of wavy blonde hair. It's several inches past his shoulders and pretty girly looking.
Well, yesterday it was way past just being girly. His mother curled his hair and it was in ringlets. My wife who knows of my interest in things like this complemented her on his hair and she just laughed and said that Saturday night she thought she'd do something special with his hair for Church so she set it and apparently he slept in curlers.
He was wearing pants and a sweater that were both probably boy's but the knit sweater and the hair together just screamed, Mom wanted a girl!
Maybe somebody would like to use that as the basis for a story.
What makes you think...
What makes you think this isn't being led by the child?
My nephew of about the same age (five in May this year) spent the christmas before last in dresses. *He asked for them.* He was at my grandfather's (his great-grandfather's) funeral wearing a butterfly-necklace. *He* wanted to wear it. There are many more such little vignettes
The mother, my sister, may still be in denial about this, assuming to the point of dependence that it's just a phase and nothing to worry about, but she does let him do it. And it does come from *him*.
very cautious
I've seen a few things lately about young kids deciding that they're girls or boys despite the physical reality and much as I want to go yeah... things are gettin' better I sort of worry at it. I know at 6 I had inklings, but did I know? Not on your life. I mean what the hell is sex or gender to a 6 year old. Not everything fits and you muddle along and figure it out for good or ill but I know I was probably 12 to 14 when I could say... yeah, screw up. Now in my case those inklings were 30 years ago and the world has changed and information is out there that I had to hunt down and harpoon. Hell 60 minutes talk about GID and for all I know 4 year olds do online gender evaluations in pre school. Indeed we have the mother of such a child as a member here. It does happen... but wanting to dress girly or whatever even for a relatively long time does not say, ah he's a girl. I think we all know how troubling it can be to have things messed up. Get a smart and thoughtful professional and work it through. Curlers? Well maybe... but it aint enough.
Still the more people that look and think and experiment as they can, well it's all good in the long run. I hope.

Transgender or abnormal psychology?
I vividly remember my beautiful long hair and a few different dresses. I came out at 5 and I " "Knew" ". Of course, in my case there were no many abnormal factors; who would have known for sure. It was the early 50's and I nearly did not survive.
I don't think any one sets out to be trans on a whim.
Many blessings
