Stories NEED to have the title and author byline in the story box because when someone copies or downloads the story, they won't always get this information otherwise. There are a number of stories currently on the front page without this info. Previously, Sephrena or I have been correcting this situation when we notice it. Lately, some of these additions have been undone during what appear to be later edits. Authors are of course entitled to remove that info if they insist but it is a site standard and there is a reason for it -- keeping the title and author name with the text of the story is just good computer/internet practice.
Please, I do have reasons for asking for this bit of info to be included in the story box, but I won't be adding the title and byline headers myself as often as before so I'm depending on authors doing so themselves or arranging for their editors to do so.
Thanks,
Erin
Inform the authors of what you changed
It might be a good idea if you explicitly tell authors whenever you edit their story for them, and strongly suggest to them that they should change their original source files to match. Have a boilerplate message you paste for that kind of thing. Then if/when they upload any changes, those important bits get preserved.

Hard to miss
The changes at the very top of the story involving half-inch high red lettering. :) If I make more extensive changes or ones that don't show so much, I do post to authors.

What does "story box" mean?
Are you talking about the teaser, or in the story itself?
Could you possibly set up some models or something
that we can look at,
so we authors won't offend in the way we post?
Story box = box with whole story in it
Sephrena misunderstood, sorry about that. What I prefer is the way I do it with blurb, title and author all in the teaser box, but that's not required. It's not even required to put it in the story box, it's just in that case, I may correct it for the protection of the author as I explained above. May. :)
I also like the title to be in very large bold type and centered with the author name below in slightly smaller italic type. But that isn't required either. Very few things are required here. :)
