Kindle Unlimited + Purchase Questions

Two questions:
(1) Suppose someone checks out (reads) a book with their Kindle Unlimited (KU) membership, then returns it and later buys it. Does the author/publisher get two payments, one from the KU program and the other for selling the copy?

(2) If someone uses the Amazon link on BCTS, but checks out a book with KU rather than purchasing it, does BCTS get any benefit?

I don't know

I think you have to ask Amazon about those. I think the author would get paid. but I don't think the associate would get any credit for a sale. Instead, we get a bounty when someone signs up for KU.

As I understand it, the author only gets paid a fee per page read on KU. If you check out a book and only read a few pages then return it, the author makes hardly a thing. When you actually read the entire book the author gets paid more.

If you read a book and really like it, your purchase is a separate transaction and the author gets full payment (less a percentage to Amazon). Even though Kindle Books and KindleUnlimited are owned by Amazon, they are separate entities and each pays fees to the author individually.

I did send your questions to a friend who publishes there and hopefully she will respond soon. I am also curious about the fees paid to the author when you re-read a book. I have several favorite authors (Karin Bishop, Tanya Allan, Angela Rasch, Tim Blewett, Katie Leone) whose books I might re-read several times. Since I keep the maximum number of KU books in my Kindle (10) I usually buy the best works of each author but when I check the same book out multiple times, I believe that each time the author is paid the same fee per page as the first time I read them.
