So Monica Rose is helping me write a fantasy TG story involving a prince. Now I'm working through it but there is part that I'm terrible at that I'm hoping others can help me with. The part is that our prince is turned into a lowly maid as punishment. Our prince is a selfish, self-centered spoiled brat and his parents have done this to teach him humility. Now the head maid is one of only a tiny handful of people who knows and is sworn to secrecy but is also in charge of the other maids and by extension: the feminized prince.
This punishment however gets kind of out of control, so what I need are ideas of what to do to the new maid. The prince was turned itno a young teenaged girl, but with no experiences in being subserviant, submissive or female. SO any ideas you have fire away, i'm looking for anything i can use.
If it helps, There is a princess who isn't fond of the prince. She is aware of what happened and while she is generally a nice person, she may take advantage of the prince's new role.

where the most obnoxious knights gather. and the princess can tell the most thick-headed and boorish knight that she heard the prince/maid has a crush on him and is playing hard to get.

A holiday or festival where
A holiday or festival where the feminized prince enjoyed to participate in, especially an activity that he excels at. Being feminized, he isn't allowed to participate and he is forced to watch. This could also be magnified by having a competition of some sort - archery, jousting, fencing, etc... and there are competitors who want a rematch from last years events having lost back then. He watches as the competitors take the field and those who went in his stead fail. Then to make it worse, he could get stuck having to deal with these visiting competitors he doesn't like as their on call servant/maid. And he may have to stick up for himself and the home team which puts his mental state in a weird point of view where he's defending others for not being good enough against the derisions of the visiting competitors.
I hope that made sense.

Maid Discipline?
How are maids disciplined in that story, or in the world of the story? Orwellian nightmare conversion occurs. Then some time later, by himself, he gets an epiphany. Or maybe when another maid is disciplined, he might interfere. Something else may motivate him to act, with major consequences, negative or positive.
He may renounce his family. He may gain revenge some other way. "Revenge is a dish best taken cold." "Don't get even, get creative." Maybe discretion is the better part of valor, and if you con someone powerful, make sure he stays conned. Turn the enemies against each other. Destroy someone, and have someone else take the fall for it -- especially if revenge is desired against both.
On the other hand, he may be utterly powerless, and any action only backfires to make things worse. (The experiences of children, definitely. Teens often.)

Dilemma
Maids tend to be treated as invisible, and what maid could know enough to make sense of the veiled comments of two conspiritors? What if the prince/maid found themselves in the position where, having figured out a dreadful plot, honour made him/her choose to save those who punished him/her at a dreadful personal cost; either revealing her status or removing forever the chance of being reinstated?
reality check for the prince/maid
If she's a maid, she'll have to do the work of a maid, and being a spoiled prince, won't have any idea of how to make a bed, clean, help someone dress, and so on. If there were such a maid -- a maid who didn't know how to do her work -- she would very likely be let go.
There could be a moment when she is fired, tossed out of the house, until the person who knows of the punishment finds out what happens and brings him back. That could be the first shock that makes him/her realize that he has to play the part of the maid and learn how to do her work well.
Also, at some point, you make whatever it is that could change him back unavailable or apparently lost or taken away. It would be a second shock for the prince/maid, realizing that he might be stuck as a maid, and that he is in the company of real girls who are also "stuck as a maid."
Needs a friend
The transformed prince needs a friend. Have someone who knows nothing about what is going on take an interest in the little maid and try to help her. It could end up a romantic interest if that is the bent of your story or there could be a small group of such friends.

If the maid isn't assigned to someone personally then most probably any male servant of the same level could be in charge of her. This way any male servant can become her ruler and another (or the same later) her protector.
