How do you find stories on this site?

Forums:

I haven't figured out a good way to search for anything on this site.

It would help if there were a list of stories and their themes, instead of individual chapters, newest-to-oldest.

There's a search box on the front page. I'll add some more search facilities soon.

How about...

... a compiled list of common tags people can click on, sort of like the authors list page. Just one idea.

one of the few areas FM is better.

And

And people over use to lure others into seeing for hits. As in tagging a story with every option available. Not complaining fully (yes I have a gripe against it at times) but to see a promise of a story that might interest me to find it had 'nothing' to do with the storyline itself is in one way abusive.

Stories vs Chapters

While it's easy for us to distinguish between a standalone story and a story chapter, it's more difficult for software. Both use the same template, while the [Solo / Series] tag isn't always applied correctly.

I suppose some form of search that only returned Book pages (the 'special' pages that contain Tables of Contents) for a particular author may be possible or one that returned story pages that weren't organised into a book (while the first few chapters of stories are sometimes posted 'as is', the admin team usually organise them into a book fairly quickly) to identify potentially misclassified standalones.

It's perhaps mentioning that this site is built on something called Drupal, which is a modular content management system, rather than built from scratch - and I'd guess (since I've never installed Drupal nor RTFM) most content on site is based on modified versions of a blog template. As different modules are written by different people who have different configuration of Drupal, pretty much any new feature (module) added has to be carefully tested to ensure it not only works as intended but doesn't break anything on site or cause a significant extra demand on server resources. Having said that, occasionally a feature does get rolled out on an experimental basis for a while and later dropped (for any of the reasons above or due to lack of use) - notably "buttons" and "status".

Quick read stories

I love that there are so many stories posted here but I would love to be able to find short stories one, two maybe three chapters. How about a short story link?
