What Happened to Favorites?
I used "Favorites" differently then Bookmarks, beyond the obvious implication of being my personal recommendations. Sort of my perpetual occasionally re-read list. What was in my favorites list I did not feel also needed to be on my bookmarks.
Now its gone and I am going to need to search those stories back out.

The people who maintained favorites did not update it to the new version of Drupal we installed six or eight months ago. They felt it duplicated bookmarks, which as you point out, it really was a bit different.

I definitely used it like a recommendations list,
as well as, as stated by the OP, a frequent re-read list of my own. I had mine populated with stories I thought others who liked my work should read or would enjoy (for the most part,) so losing it was really the only thing I was unhappy with from the latest update.
Maybe we'll get something similar some time soon. 'Til then, I know most of the stories by heart, and can name them any time I want anyhow :P
