Saw this on YouTube today, in video format.
It was read by a young lady (my guess is college-age) and is a very powerful commentary on the state of the world and the "Lost Generation" that is coming up in it now. At first, this seems like an unbearable message, but please hang in there until you've read through all of the post and instructions.
Read line by line to the end (more instructions there)
"Happiness comes from within"
is a lie, and
"Money will make me happy"
So in 30 years I will tell my children
they are not the most important thing in my life.
My employer will know that
I have my priorities straight because
work
is more important than
family
I tell you this
Once upon a time
Families stayed together
but this will not be true in my era
this is a quick fix society
Experts tell me
30 years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
I do not concede that
I will live in a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about this earth
It will be evident that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
There is hope.
And all of this will come true unless we choose to reverse it... Now, go back up. Read it line by line again UP THE PAGE, and find out how this voice of the "Lost Generation" really feels about the future.

Very Powerful Message
I have to say that reading this like the instructions say, has inspired a new hope for our world. It is all about the power of positive thinking. We can accomplish anything if we work together and help each other be better human beings.
Hugs,
Jen
very nice
Is there a term for something of this sort? A sort of anti-palindrome by lines?
Amy!
But where's the...
youtube link??? :-)

What the......?
I have a confession to make. I made a snap judgment about this poem as I read it line by line in the normal fashion. I thought it was a horrendous slap in the face. It was telling me I could not make my own destiny. When I reached the end and read the instructions to read it "backward" I was uplifted.
I apologize for my snap judgment, but I am grateful you posted such an eloquent piece of work.
Thank you
Paula
