The British Lion has roared at the track cycling in Beijing, a medal in every event so far plus a gold and silver in the Keirin and the same assured in the women's 3000m individual time trial. As a member of British Cycling; I am overjoyed. I presume I can stand down now, as they look as if they can cope without me. 8)
Not forgetting the achievements of Nicole Cooke and Emma Pooley in the women's road race and time trial, respectively. It's a nice time to be a Cyclist and a Brit.

Hear, hear
We're just looking forward to the rest of the races tomorrow to see just how awesome we can be.
I wonder whether the Manchester Madison can be repeated here ...
NB
I don't just look it, I really AM that bad . . .
Agreed
Not often that Britain has as many medals as the rest of the world put together, but that is the current case in the track cycling. And there is nothing wrong in EXCELLING in sports where you sit down!

And, sadly (typically too) our coverage...
of cycling didn't let me see any. I did see the cyclers - peddling by the crew venue one evening though...
*sighs* Not surprisingly, we saw lots of swimming, diving, gymnastics, diving, volley ball...
That sucks
But it is available through the BBC website...
I think you may have to download some software, but other than that, you should get it alright.

It's a new world record :)
Congrats firstly to Phelps for that awesome swimming, but really I wanted to give a big up to the British cyclists.
Not content with getting the fastest time in the team pursuit, they had to go and smash the world record time to go with it.
Yeah, we're a long way behind the Chinese and Americans in the medals, but credit where it's due ...

You aint seen nothing yet.
We've still got 'Queen' Victoria the glamour girl of track sprinting and Chris Hoy looking for his 3rd gold in this Olympics in the individual sprint, yet to come. The madison is a bit of a lottery but Wiggins and Cavendish, as current world champions ore probably favourites there too.
I started cycling seriously some 30+ years ago as a means of getting fit for sailing so I have the added satisfaction of seeing my 'other' sport bringing gold to team GBR as well. I've just spent the evening watching BBC videos on my PC (no TV, you see) of the windy sailing in China yesterday. Whilst the victories for the ladies in the Yngling and Ben Ainslie in the Fin were great, the best was the 49er race when just about the whole fleet capsized at least once on the last leg and the Danes eventually won gold in a borrowed boat after capsizing within 200 metres of the finish.
All great stuff.
