Several years ago, I came across a novel on the net. I don't remember title or author. Though i seem to remember that the author self-published it on the net, after it got rejected by his or her regular publishers.

It's a crime novel about the murder of a T-girl. At first the investigators give it the "it's just a damned fag" treatment, but then have to put every effort into it, due to political connections of the victim. Along the way, the investigators (a man and woman team iirc), come to respect the members of the TG scene they have to investigate in. And that these people are also part of the public, they've sworn to serve and protect.

Does anyone know this novel?
