Sooooo...Tomorrow, Monday, I go up to Buffalo for my pre-op stuff. Unfortunately it isn't EXACTLY the pre-op I'd LIKE to be going for...this is for my cataract surgery, which will be done on Wednesday.
I'm very upbeat about this, and have complete confidence in the surgeons, and trying very hard not to obsess over the surgery itself, nor for the recovery and return to what I laughingly call "normal" sight in my one good eye.
I just bought a new (to me) car, a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria with less than 74,000 actual miles on it. Truly a one owner car...a little old lady who only drove it occasionally, and I'm looking forward to driving it. With the fogging in my vision caused by the cataract, it's been sitting in the driveway, calling softly to me... "Drive me...drive meeee... DRIVE MEEEEEE!"
Anyway, that's the situation for now. more when I get back from all this.

I've known...
I've known folks who had Crown Vic's that got custom paint jobs to resemble (but be slightly different) local police cruisers... one even went to far as to put lights that flashed behind their grill... If you watched - the flashing spelled a word - rather than just blinked back and forth like real ones do)... The clown'd drive up behind folks and flash his lights. *sighs* Just to watch people slow down. *sighs* (Or, a least, so he claimed...)
You'd never try such a thing, I'm sure... :-)

Surgery
You should be up-beat about it; it's one of the most successful surgeries there is these days, with thousands done every year. I've known of people who've ended up with virtually 100% vision as a result.
My cataract surgery was carried out in 1953. I was in hospital for several weeks; they didn't have implants then, so it was only partly successful. Yours is being done nearly 60 years later; now it's usually a half-day outpatient job in the UK.
