I've just spoken with Shelly. Holly is out of surgery. The doctors do not think the tumor has metastaticized.

That's good isn't it?

I don't just look it, I'm totally hoping that's good

Yes thank God, it is!

Metastasis means that the cancer would have spread to one or more organs; usually through the blood stream, but also in the lymphatic system. To catch Pancreatic Cancer this early in the progression of the disease and the lack of metastasis is great news.

It's very good. The

It's very good. The critical point for any cancer is metastasis. If the cancer does NOT metastasise,
it's confined to its origin point. (bone cancer stays in bone, ovarian cancer is limited to the ovaries, etc).

Lung cancer is very bad for that, as is pancreatic - it spreads to other parts of the body and organs. For example, my uncle had lung cancer in the bone by the time they identified it. The more localised the cancer, the better the prognosis for treating it.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Wonderful

Thats wonderful news. Thanks for letting us all know

Karen

Phew!

That's a relief, but not entirely unexpected, since the tumour was relatively young. As the pancreas is one of the major organs attached to the lymphatic system, metastasis would have been very bad news. Let's hope the doctors have removed every last trace of the tumour and Holly recovers quickly so is soon back on her feet and fighting fit.
