Read an article the other day and as it had the same (nick)name of a certain character in one of my favorite stories her, I thought I would share the link here.
A Heartfelt Goodbye to a Spirited Mars Rover
Mars Exploration Rover Project Manager John Callas sent a letter to his team shortly after the final command was sent to the Mars rover Sprit, which operated on the surface of Mars for more than six years and made numerous scientific discoveries.
I know it is certainly not many people's cup of tea, but this story of the little rover that could left me with a small lump in my throat. Whether it was the fact that it kept goping through adversity or that it discovered so many things in a lifetime that lasted 24 times longer than was planned and travelled almost 8 times farther, it resonated deep within me as a kindred spirit.
It truly lived up to its name. RIP Spirit
