Well, I have good news.
I have a job.
It's only 33 weeks, working as a temp for Dell, but it's better than nothing.
Now the problem....
I asked the recruiter about what I needed to do as a transitioning woman, and the NEXT DAY they called me and said that the job wasn't going to be starting on the start date.
Now, I've had enough bad luck with jobs that I'm really going ???? and wondering if there is a correlation or not. I do know that they were having some problems before I said anything, so that's okay, but the timing seems awful iffy to me. I tried writing someone else and asking about it, haven't heard back.
So, I'm confused. If they are starting on the date, and I don't show, I'll be fired and that's that. They can't say that they fired me for being trans. So I'm a bit stuck.
I'm going to call the office and double check this, just to make sure. I don't want to lose a job before I even show up.

I'm sorry hon
hugs sweetie. hopefully, you can get it sorted. Its too dam bad employers would look at your trans status rather than how you do the job.

Job
Ask them to send you an email with the actual start date, then if it is different to the one originally given and you do not turn up (to original) then you can show the email and say this is what I received.
Hope this helps

You could always show up
Then say you just wanted to see where you're going to be working and get a feel for the area :)
I'm concerned
As much as I hate it, you may not have the job. I've had several "We want you!" offers, then when they learn I'm diabled, something always happens where some coincidence means I can;t get the job. I've become quite cynical, and when I read your blog, the first thing to pop in my mind was "Whoops! No Job!". I fear that the discrimination bug has bitten you. I hope I'm wrong!

You need to get something in writing. First, send a confirming e-mail, and follow it up with a letter. Mention in the e-mail that you are sending the letter.
Basically,
Dear So & So.
This will confirm that Mr/Ms xxyz advised me on Date taht I was offered a position as an ABC with DEF company. I was originally advised to report on Date to start work.
On Date Mr/MS ZZZ called/e-mailed me and advised me that my strating date has changed to Date.
Therefore, I will comply with Mr/Ms ZZZ instructions and show up for work on that date.
If anything above is incorrect, please contact me at Phone/e-mail/address.
Of course if I can do anything to assist DEF company prior to my official start date or prepare to start work, please so advise.
Very truly yours,
Maid Joy's real life name.

Which "they" called? The
Which "they" called? The recruiter or Dell? If tomorrow is supposed to be the first day show up, if not call and verify the new starting date, and get something in writing.
On the plus side 25 years ago my brother got a temp job, and has been with the company ever since.
Good luck.
