I have two bloody accounts and the breeches in my personal security have been quite embarassing. I understand that MySpace is about to go under, and I can see how that could happen with facebook.

As for Facebook, I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole... for the reasons you've given before.

Very unlikely. For all the privacy concerns sensible, educated users have; when it has 600 million active users (about 8.7% of the world's population) and makes a sizeable amount of money from advertising (via Microsoft) - not to mention all the juicy user information it passes to games / applications (so therefore accessible to other advertisers), it's not likely to fold any time soon!
I use it, although I have my privacy settings set almost as high as they can go, and even then it's for a limited number of features (i.e. two games and one group with a limited number of members, whose privacy is set to 'secret').
