My left eye, which is my primary one, is cloudy and I cannot read without great difficukty. Everything is as if seen through a film of vaseline. My right eye is clear, but cannot read unless the type is VERY large and VERY dark. I don't know what's causing this problem, and I hope it will go away within another day. It's been two days already and if it continues tomorrow, I will seek medical assistance. In the meantime, if you call me on skype, please let it ring until I answer or until it's apparent that I won't be answering, as it will take me more time to even FIND the window to click on, to answer.

Cathy, go in NOW, don't wait, Or better have a friend/cab drive
I'm not a medical professional but that it came on sudden sounds bad.
A detaching retina? Infection? Blod clot/mini stroke along the optic nerve? Sudden massive increase in the pressure in your eyes? The symptoms are a little like glacoma but that tunnel vision symptom usually takes years to manifest.
My dad had cataracts but they took years to grow. Sudden vison changes could be evidence of tramatic injury and a need for quick treatment.
At a bare minimum talk to a doctor over the phone or go the an urgent care facilty and get an evaluation. Insist on a thorough one. Your vision is too imporant to role the dice on.

Ditto -- Eyes are very handy things to have around
I had something vaguely similar happen to me, caused by a broken blood vessel leaking blood into the eye. They managed to seal off the "bleeder" but it took years for it to mostly go away (the eye doesn't flush itself very well) and there are still shadows there, which I mostly compensate for in my brain, because that's what brains are supposed to do. Binocular vision is an afterthought, you know. The primary adaptation is from when we lived in trees. Two-eyed vision allows us to "see through" leaves and branches. You can see the effect by waving your hand in front of your face. Unlike a camera, those of us with two eyes see the background clearly, and can easily ignore the waving hand. I was advised at the time that it was a good thing I came in early. These sorts of things can progress to do irreversible damage.

Sight Problems
If you can reach her by Skype as she says, she should go to the emergency room, better if she can go to the VA. I am 60 and this year the membrane in the back of my eyes that holds a fluid that protects the retina has disintegrated on my left eye and may be doing so in my right eye, the resulting displays and distractions caused me to call the Ophthalmology department at my health provider. I was told to get a emergency appointment at the Ophthalmology clinic. The disintegration is part of age but can cause tearing of the retina as it occurs and needs to monitored.
One of the effects they told me worry about was what they called a shower curtain appearance.
The situation for Cathy Is:
She lives near a VA clinic that is not open on Sunday. Like me, she does not have health insurance. She lives about 100 miles away from a VA hospital. I had considered picking her up and taking her to Buffalo, but it is 120 miles for me to get to her house and then on to Buffalo. We are leaving to head off to Iowa on Tues AM.
Yes, her situation is serious, and I am gonna feel like hell if she suffers damage that I could have prevented from getting worse. She looks as if she is on skype right now, and said that she would answer if someone rang her, but can not text for obvious reasons.
I wish I could help right now.
