Hi all

Well its sad to say that the 4th Gabycon has finished, the attendees gone their seperate ways (to bed at least) and we all look back on an excellent weekend hosted primarily by Angharad - cheers Ang!

But you'd like to know more so we'll pick things up this morning. As Bev needed to get off early we had a slight change to plan and after collecting Ben in Weymouth we headed for Corfe Castle about 20 miles to the east. The sun was out, the sky was blue and the Sealed Knot were camping out at the castle! Its a big place sleighted by Cromwell after that 17th Century disagreement with the Crown. We paid our money and spent some time exploring the ruins before decamping to the cafe for a light lunch.

We said goodbye to Bev at this point but after Ang did a quick read from her first volume the rest of our merry band clambered into Anne's Jag and headed for stop two - Lulworth Cove. This is part of the 'Jurassic Coast' and Ang led our little expedition on a hike to see the petrified forest in the cliffs a little to the east. So okay its not the actual trees that you see but it was a great thing to see.

Then it was back to the Cove for more ice cream before heading for our final stop of the day, Portland Bill. The great weather stayed with us and after negotiating the roadworks of Weymouth we found ourselves surveying the wonder that is Chesil Beach from high on the island. Ang did another excerpt and i followed on with another read from Book 4, the railway trip episode. As we were so close we decided to take a quick look at 'The Bill' itself - not much to see but we've been there!

Finally we returned to the mainland where Ang directed us to an excellent Carvery for our last meal together. It was a little sad to realise that the Con was so nearly over and we all contributed to dragging things out as long as possible. But it had to end, a last short journey back to Dorchester and it really was time for the goodbyes.

For some its work tomorrow, the rest of us will be travelling home to Hampshire, the Midlands, Germany and Yorkshire, all with great memories of a terrific weekend.

Between us we took a few pics and i'll endeavour to post one or two on Wednesday, but until then,

Tschuss

Legs

They are aching with the memories of cycling round there. I was at Corfe last year, camped on the farm just before the castele and riding out to Arne for the birds, and grabbing a few pints in the pub.
