I'm pretty new to the site, and the idea of finding a picture to represent my hero(ines) is a new one. I'm a writer, not an artist. But, as they say, a good picture is worth a thousand words. With the rise of superhero fiction on the site*, I decided to share a few pictures I'd stumbled across, either to inspire new stories, or as gifts for the authors of existing stories. I don't own these images, and they were found on a site that freely distributes art. I've adjusted the sizes of the images to fit within the forum display size, if you want something bigger, just let me know.

Picturing Heroines
If you don't feel confident in your drawing ability, but you want to make your own superhero picture, there are a couple of tools out on the web that can help with that, by letting you combine pieces that someone else drew into one image, and you can even pick the colors of everything. It's like that old toy where you could design fashions for paper dolls by putting plastic stencils in a frame and doing a rubbing. (I fear that I am dating myself here, but no one else is, so why not?)
HeroMachine is the best known of these. It's been out for a while, and they now also have versions for non-superhero characters, like pin-up girls and rockstars.
Fábrica de Heróis is another good one, that makes heroes in a style remeniscent of the Justice League animated universe. (It doesn't seem to be working for me today, so the developer might be working on it.) It's from Brazil, so you'll probably want to click the American flag to change the language of the menus. The main shortcoming is that to save your picture, you'll have to do a print screen.
