For the second time in three months, a member of my household got called to do their civic. In April it was me, this time it is my wife.
She's at the Palm Beach County Courthouse right now. It is lunch time and she won't be back in court till 1:30. She is one of a 150 person jury member pool civil suit. Juror candidates have already been warned the trial will end sometime in August or in other words will be 3-4 weeks in length.
That's a total non-starter for my wife. She can not be away from work that long, plus she has me and her mother who have serious health issues at home. All our children are home from school now but still my wife can't be at least a half hour from home every week day for a month's time. I just spent nine days in the hospital less than a month ago.
When Leonita's turn comes up to answer some questions, she'll tell the court she can't serve. I'm sure she will be excused.(During my jury experience, either 7 or 8 people asked to be excused from duty of of 30 candidates for a one-two day trial. All these people got their requests granted.) In the meantime my wife gets to spend a day up in West Palm Beach.

Update- The mail just arrived. My 75-year-old mother-in-law got a summons for federal jury duty. LOL, when it rains it pours?
She won't be going. Who's next, my 21-year-old daughter who is getting ready to start graduate school?

The mail arrives tomorrow....
Marked Palm Beach County Courthouse.
Dear PRETTY BOY...please report to the court for jury duty. You will be compensated for your time if you are chosen; Hartz Mountain Cockatiel Gourmet Food will be provided.
And Puff and Sparky can't be far behind, yes?
She was born for all the wrong reasons but grew up for all the right ones.
