It’s a trend the makers of 1993 spoof movie Robin Hood: Men in Tights, obviously didn’t envisage, but the market for men’s hosiery has reportedly taken off in recent years.
Last month UK department store Selfridges responded to the demand and began stocking (no pun intended) a range of extra-tough tights designed exclusively for men.

In various types of dancing, ballet and modern are what I can think of off hand, have been wearing tights for decades (centuries?). I have no idea what they cost or if they are in modern fashion colors, but I expect most danceware stores would have them.

Just loose ugly leggings
The photos that I saw of the product that went with that story about Selfridges contained guys in loose wrinkly black leggings. I didn't see any of those photos in the pages in the links listed. There are some nice tights and legwear out there without them costing so much and sized and designed for men. And why the store paired them with a mini-kilt or more a pleated mini skirt I can't figure. Turned a plausible idea into something less desirable in my view. Nice leggings or heavy opaque tights with a tunic length shirt could look fairly good, IMHO.
Oh, well each to their own opinion.

Many dancewear suppliers will do custom work for extra charge, allowing one to pick colours and fabrics as available instead of "prêt-à -porter."
This place is fairly representative, although their preview function is broken in all the browsers available to me. I suspect that MSIE on Windows might do the trick, though.

Makes a change
It's usually us women that get seen off at the shops. With the markup on womens' wear up to 500 percent, it makes a change for the boot to be on the other hand.
Seriously, since tights (pantyhose) have been available, many men have worn them just for extra warmth in cold weather - that's if you ignore the hordes of males who wear them because they feel good.
Considering the high price of 'Designer' items, it might simply be a case of 'a fool and his money are soon parted'.

Seriously, if hordes of males are wearing tights/stockings because they feel good or for their warmth, one wonders if they’re shaving their legs. After all, the removal of leg hair seems to be a prerequisite for comfort.
