Hi folks, it's me again.
We really ought to stop meeting like this.
Just to say that if you click here and go to Hot Topics (sort of top left), there's a new DVD review. Well, to be honest, the DVD is as old as dirt, but I'm guessing most of you haven't seen it and it's called Does Humour Belong in Music?
Even if you don't like what it's about, the review is damned entertaining, so go give it a look - please.
Plus, Starla Anne has just posted A 23rd Century Girl in the 20th Century, Chapter 20 (Final Chapter of Book One), so there's plenty there to get yer teeth into.

Funny Music
I didn't see Zappa in concert, though I hope to see Dweezil Zappa's Tribute band play Frank's songs.
Hell yes, I think humor belongs in music! Whenever I am listening to songs I make up funny lyrics in my head. I can't help it. Often, when driving and listening to the radio, I will burst out laughing at a particularly funny or absurd line I've given a song.
It's odd, song lyrics are poetry and I don't care for poetry, except for a good limerick, but I love funny songs. Tom Lehrer, Allan Sherman, Mad Magazine's twisted song lyric's, I love that stuff!

You're so right, but with much of Zappa's stuff, you can't make it funnier.
Much of it is sexually orientated, but I think that makes it all the more amusing, because it's a subject that many people are very prickly about.
When I saw him in Brighton, I bumped into my old English teacher who had a huge spliff. I always thought he was so straight-laced! What was more embarrassing for me, was he was with another teacher, a very attractive lady rumoured to be seeing him, but never substantiated. To see them together made my night... well, slightly overshadowed by Mr. Zappa and the crew.
