There is an episode of the show "Mental" on the Fox Television network on a teenage girl who sets herself on fire because she was a boy who was forcibly changed to a girl because her mother wanted a girl and could not stand to look at her son.

It's actually much more similar to the case of David Reimer. The child was being circumcised when the knife slipped. The parents were told by doctors he could easily be raised as a girl and everything would be fine, so they did just that. The mother could not stand to look at her son anymore because she hated lying to him about his true gender. She eventually commits suicide because of it.
I have to say it was a really good episode and it depicted the actions very well. It's not like the House fiasco where House was a huge prick about it... blah...
