I recently received my new Veteran's I.D. card, with my real pic on it. That makes two picture ID's. Driver's License and Vet's ID... both with me as Cathy. When I get back from The SCC conference, I will submit the paperwork to legally change my name.
Baby steps, my friends, but important ones.
Hugs 'n love,

Validation!
Way to go, Hon! The Vets ID card will go a long way towards giving any bigoted cops some pause.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T!
VETS ID, you bet.
I don't remember the situation exactly, but not that long ago, someone wanted to give me some grief over something, it may have been something to do with my being Muslim. He was acting like a pedigreed redneck, and he said something to the effect that I was not American. I then pulled out my Driver's license, and he sort of snickered, "Why anyone can get one of these". That sort of began to arouse my ire, and then I pulled out my Veterans Card with picture ID with me in my Hijab. " I'm a veteran too, and people like you make me feel ashamed that I defended you when I did." He was much nicer.
Now that I think of it, I may have been at the Social Security Office. Grrrrrr.

NICE...
Hmmm. Veteran's ID. Interesting. I've got a VA card, for med stuff (minor disability) but no picture on it.
Congrats for you. All the little steps add up to a long travel.
