Can the Story Name be added in the New Commentary Section in addition to Subject and Author.

On the front page in the New Commentary Section, the subject of the comment and the name of the author appear. I wonder if the name of the story could also be included.

When I look at that section when I sign on, I try and determine if there are any new comments for stories I have read or commented on. Having the story name as well as subject information and authors name would facilitate this. I generally skip new comments unless they are for a story I have read or the subject relly catches my intention.

When I am posting a comment about a story, I try and give a hint as to what story I am writing about in the subject area. So if I was posting a comment about Anistasia Allread’s, excellent story, “The Princess and the Plague”, which by the way usually generates the most comments for a story each week it has appeared, I would refer to Eric/a, the protagonist in the subject.

I have no idea how difficult this would be. If it is a fairly simple thing to do then it might be helpful to readers.

Hear, Hear! I've asked about this in the past, Rami

I know I've greatly added to the Read count for many stories I haven't even read and probably never will read, because I follow half a dozen or a dozen comments to it, EVEN when I've already read the comments, because I generally read all the comments when I'm in there, to see if it DOES sound interesting.

But I don't remember the comment titles, so I go back again and again.

The more comments, the more times a story is accessed. Thus, Read counts, IMO, are not a very good indicator of how many times a story has been read.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

new commentary - story titles

My workaround is to move the mouse pointer over the comment subject line. Then the browser status line will show the link containg the story title.

That's how I do it too and

That's how I do it too and it always works fine for me! :)

Keeping it simple

The ability to find out which story is being referenced by hovering is why I didn't include the story name in the commentary block. Also, the comment titles are long enough without making another line or three necessary - it approaches the point of taking more room than it's worth. :) Especially since the info is available by other means.

Thanks for the insight on finding story name

RAMI

I would like to thank those who pointed out a way to find the story name. Until they pointed it out I did not know I could do that.

Since Erin suggets that a change would not be worth the effort, I will leave it at taht,

Yes, thank you everyone

I never noticed that before.
