Garden News
Hi folks,
Things are developing at Hypatia's garden. Right now there is a discussion about ... well, you've already read the headline. So, if you're interested, please go to Hypatia's Garden
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" that's what the bible says. scientists say it all started with the big bang.
does that mean the bible has it wrong? after all, the bible doesn't say just how heaven and earth got created, just that God did it.
now generally there is a great divide between those who believe the bible, and those who believe in the big bang.
as for me, i believe in both.
what do you think?
Oh, there's no reason the Bible and the big bang need be incompatible. Quite the contrary; it was originally developed to strengthen a theistic world-view and by a priest, no less. Now, I don't believe in any gods, but if I did, the big bang would not be an obstacle. It's really a very vague theory, which does not in itself speak to the origins of matter or energy, only offers an explanation for their current movement. The rest of biblical creation is another story, but that was not the question posed.

I, too, believe in both
I know that sounds preposterous, but hear/read me out. I believe in God, and I believe He is omnipotent, omniscient, etc. Since God is all knowing, He knows science. Since He knows science, He is bound by its principles and laws. Therefore, when God created the heavens and earth, he could have used the principles and laws of science to do so.
Just my thoughts on things.
Smooches,
Paula
