Woke up this morning to find it snowing heavy and 6 inches of snow already on the ground. Waited until it finally stopped around 11am to go shovel while my daughter cleared the snow off my truck so we could go to the store. The plow had not came by my home yet so getting the car down the unplowed road could have been a problem.
The main roads going into town were clear with a slight exception. The city plows were currently clearing the side roads and exiting the side roads they had left boulders of semi packed snow scattered on the main road. To my daughter's amusement, I did my best to bust as many of the larger ones apart using my large 4X4 as a battering ram against them. Of course my only concern was to make the roadway safer for smaller cars with their lack of ground clearance and easily broken plastic bumpers. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it)
At the store there was a lot of cars in the parking spaces, but I found one very close. Maneuvering around to park I discovered why no one else used that space, whoever plowed the parking lot pushed a pile of snow almost chest high into the center of that space. Looking over at my daughter I told her that they reserved that spot for me!

Spring Break???
I drive school bus in NW Oregon. We had a great deal of snow Friday. So much so that on my way out to start my route in the morning (I leave the bus barn at 6:25 AM, still very dark) that with the snow coming down visibility was down to about a quarter of a mile. There was about an inch or so of packed snow on the road surface. They didn't close school because the forecasted temp was due to be over freezing by the time school started. I was able to do about 40 MPH, I was feeling very dangerous at that speed because with the snow on the road surface and the poor visibility I couldn't tell where the edge of the road was and my route is mainly on a two lane rural highway with very little shoulder.
Anyway, I posted on our local community Facebook page, "Spring Break??? Doesn't it have to Spring to have a Spring Break?"
Hugs
Patricia
