Welcome to BCTS!

This post is from a while back, with many people responding, and suggesting many, many stories. I hope you like (at least some of) them:

The BCTS home page has a Search function, with several options. Play around with it, see what the options do. Search can help you find a story mentioned only by name, but no link given.

At the end of each story, there is an option to ++Bookmark it. This can also get you back to an author you like.

Enjoy!

some choices

When I'm looking for sweet and sentimental I normally turn to Melanie Brown - try 'the kiss' as an example https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/55537/kiss

I love Sleethr's 'Whisper' https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/29203/whisper which is sweet but with guns and sci-fi action.

My own 'The Gift' https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/65033/gift is quite sentimental, I think.

Julie O's The Scholarship has a rape scene, which doesn't sound like what you're after, but it's handled very sensitively and the overall tone is quite sentimental https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/553/scholarship

Let us know what you find from your searching?

Morgan

I'll second Whisper

and it's brief sequel. Also Julie O's Change of Course series, a great epic.

The Scholarship Recommended

I strongly recommend "The Scholarship". Even with the rape subplot, something I am all too familiar with, it is still a damn good story. The section referred to is told straight, with no gratuitous violence or sleazy sex. It evolves naturally in the main story, and the aftermath is not only accurate, it is well-told.

My Own

erin's picture

I'm pretty sentimental and I've written three fairly sweet stories in the last year or so.

Hired Girl --Summer jobs are not easy to find for a small, pretty boy.
Jane --A boy named Jane discovers he may actually be a girl.
Love Less --A child abandoned by his parents acquires a new family.

Hugs,
Erin

College Bound

Here is a favorite of mine, "College Bound" by Samantha Michelle. A new transfer student from out west is going to have to enroll in a stuffy, rules-bound New England high school that requies that he cut off his long hair, a revolt takes place.

Unfortunately this story is not available on BC. The following link will take you to the story on FM. A great story by a great author. Otherwise I wouldn't send you to FM. A very romantic tale

Short Stories

Hi Ashley,
I am Maryanne Peters and I write short stories (usually under 3,000 words), almost all with happy endings.
So it will not take you long to pick one up and read it, and if you like my style there are over 100 stories to amuse you.
Maybe start with the first one I posted - Pretty: https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/82769/pretty
But is saying "my style" I should say that I try to bring variation into my writing, so check out others.
If you do, please comment. It may help me to steer you to something.
