The hospital that my GCS was supposed to be in called the doctor's office yesterday and said that they are no longer allowing that sort of operation to be done there. I was waiting on my appointment to see the doctor when they did so
The doctor's office has rescheduled me for April 10th at a different hospital.
So this trip to Houston that I just got back from was not necessary. I went ahead and had my appointment with the doctor while I was there, but that could have been done when I go back in April.
I have been on an emotional roller coaster from mad to sad and back to mad.

That’s the problem with our world.......
Especially with Trump and his ilk in office. Unfortunately, it is especially true in certain states - Texas being one of them.
I am ashamed of the fact that our country allows medical personnel to pick and choose who they will treat and how they will practice medicine based on their religious beliefs and prejudices. Apparently the Hypocratic Oath just doesn’t mean what it used to. Whatever happened to, “First, do no harm.......”?
It appalls me that someone who supposedly has dedicated their life to healing can refuse treatment to a person due to their perverted view of the teachings of a man who professed love of all people above everything else.
One of the reasons why I refuse to give up my legal residence in New York State is that I am protected by law there. No one may refuse me treatment, and my health insurance is required by law to cover those treatments.
Someday maybe that will be true everywhere in this country.

Never assume malice, when money …
The major factor for the vast majority of those, choosing to become a Doctor, in an ultra capitalist society like the USA, where access to treatment, and the level of quality has been, and always will be based on money. Most of those choosing to become Doctor's, do so to dedicate their lives to making lots of money, especially where they choose the career path of cosmetic surgeon.
It's much more likely that, in this instance, the motivation is financial, rather than individual bias, as Amy states
Hospital's are corporations, and rarely do such business motivated boards make decisions based on ideology, it's far more likely to be a cold hard profit motivated decision, than ideological, or the hospital would never have offered such surgery to begin with.
I had to look up;
GCS (Gender Confirmation Surgery, or Genital Confirmation Surgery), In UK it's usually;
SRS (Sexual Reassignment Surgery, or Sex Realignment Surgery, or Sex Reconstruction Surgery).
Then there's these alternates:
GRS (Gender Reassignment Surgery, or Genital Reconstruction Surgery), GAS (Gender Affirming Surgery), SCO (Sex Change Operation).
I'm sure there's a lot more besides, but my sidetracked point is;
There's too many bloody acronyms, I can't keep up.
Back on Topic:
CYOA (Choose Your Own
AdventureAcronym), is major surgery, and cosmetic surgery as far as the genital procedure is concerned, but has all sorts of complications, including mental issues. In all likelihood it was accountancy balance sheets that made this decision, based on simple fast turnover procedures requiring little, or no after care support staff, being far more profitable.Never assume malice is the major motivation, when money is involved, simple greed is always the most likely reason.

Do No Harm?
Over the course of my admittedly short tenure at this site, I have stumbled across the repeated reference to the Hippocratic Oath and the words: “first, do no harm”.
I am not a medical doctor but I do have some medical background in addition to my Doctorate in Physics. This repeated referencing attributed to the Hippocratic Oath eventually irritated my curiosity enough that it caused me to actually go look at that oath.
Nowhere in it did I find the “first, do no harm”.
Yes, those words do occur but not in the oath.
For more information ( for those of you who are so inclined ) cut and paste the following into your browser. That will take you to a google menu and the lead to the Harvard article concerning “first, do no harm”.
