Illustrated stories get way more hits than pure text. It's a fact because of the way the human memory works. We remember words better than we do pictures, at least, most of us. Re-viewing a picture is a different sort of experience to re-reading a story. That's just the way it is.

After the crappy day I've had I needed that laugh!
I'd say it was!
1000 is the milestone I look for. I mean, I don't really consider any of my stories here as having "made it" until they get 250 hits, and then I anxiously watch for 500, 750, and 1000... after 1000 I really don't angst over them anymore, but I just noticed that bit getting up there. If you look at the piece, though, there really isn't anything there of mine except the idea -- the reason it's so popular is completely due to Heather Rose Brown's art.
