I offer this as a diversion. I was going to post it at the end of June when I returned from holiday but as times seem a little troubled I thought it would be best brought forward as a sort of affirmation of my belief in this site.
The down side is that there may be a fortnight's interval along the line instead of the weekly posting stated in the preamble as I shall be away for a while. So bear with me.
Do feel free to comment on how much you dislike it, that you think it unspeakable crap, if the fancy so takes you. I am not going to lose much sleep over it :). Better out than in as my grannie used to say.
On the other hand if someone does like it and tells me so it will quite make my day.
Hugs,
Fleurie

My Aplogies to Dr. Crippen ...
.... I gravely wrong him in stating that Belle Elmore was 'one of Dr. Crippen's murdered wives' in the preamble to 'The Old Alhambra'. I took someone else's reference at face value. Whilst the dear Doctor had indeed two wives he only murdered the second of them - Belle, whose remains are buried in St Pancras & Islington Cemetery but who was born Kunigunde Mackamotzki in Brooklyn, New York, in 1873, and later took the rather simpler name of Cora Taylor. Crippen was of course also an American, as was his first wife who died of natural causes.
Just to complete the circle, the house at 39 Hilldrop Crescent, were the murder took place, was itself destroyed in a German air raid in the World War II.
Ethel le Neve, for whom he killed, died in hospital in 1967, aged 84.
So I malign the poor Doctor. And in case his lawyers ever read this, I would like to make an unconditional apology for this and not checking my facts first.
Hugs,
Fleurie
The most recent analysis
suggests that Crippen killed no one. The bits of body found were non human and his wife is purported to have written to the courts/home secretary to say she was alive and well.
It was as they say, 'a fit up'.
