Sir Bradley Wiggins is about to attempt a world cycle record - how far can he go in an hour? Current world record is 52.937 kilometres.
He has just taken to the track for a little warm-up, and the crowd are wildly excited in the velodrome.....

Visit
Well since I'm going to be there for 7 weeks and so close, now I want to visit this velodrome that both Angharad and Maddy Bell have mentioned in the past stories.
To the pro bikers, anything I need to be aware of looking out for and or avoid when I visit Manchester?
Thanks for any suggestions!

If you head for Manchester then....
You are goning to miss your target by some 200 miles.
To quote the front page of BBC Sport - Cycling page.
Sir Bradley Wiggins breaks cycling's iconic hour record after covering 54.526km at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London.
This is the place where the London 2012 Olympics were held.
oops!
Well I've been told that the velodrome in Manchester is like the bomb, lol. I'll probably be passing within miles of Mr. Wiggins location of this stupendous effort while enroute to Brighton but is one greater than the other?
Thanks for the information though. It is appreciated.

Since I'm on the other side
Since I'm on the other side of the pond, I'm not able to see that. But I have been working with the Richmond 2015 group so I might get to see several if I am here for that. :)

Not by a bit, Sir Brad smashed it!
He increased the distance ridden in one hour by nothing short of an incredible 3%.
His new world record is 54.526 kilometres.
Thunder thighs ain't got nothing on him!
Way to go!

I sometimes
Wonder why cycling seems to attract members of this community!
The boy done good, how many sports could attract 7000 people to watch one man compete against himself for an hour? - I mean, it's hardly great spectator sport is it yet i'm sure with TV audiences one man's hour had a significant chunk of the UK population cheering him on.
Problem now is what do we focus on next? Maybe I need to get Gaby back out on her bike?
