OK, call this shameless advertising of my blog (not what I intend), but this is something that needs to happen. For those that don't want to click the link, think again. It's about a change.org petition on teaching Gender Identity in schools. Something that I hope we all realise is needed. I seriously hope this one goes through, because while it may not help me any, it would give me peace of mind to know that we're no longer that group that everyone avoids talking about.

i completly and totally agree with you
But I seriously doubt it will happen. I argued with some of my friends and even people on yahoo and it seems so many people feel that somehow its infringing on them to make them accept people that appear different from the gender they identify with. And they being forced to accept it. Teaching it in schools would be even worse for these people. Its frustrating that people can be so narrow minded they they think its intolerant to not accept their opinion when their opinion is attacking and demeaning other people. To me, its like a nazi calling a jew intolerant. and some do :(

Schools have boiled down to one thing, end of the year tests. Think of all the programs cut out of schools, art, music, band, school plays, wrestling, home ec. typing classes, sex education. We teach core subjects in schools and that's about it. Reading, writing, science, history, and if you are one of the lucky few, you might have a gym class.
Gender Identity needs to be taught at home and it is. We learn what is male and what is female from our parents and later from our peers. It's been that way for eons. Most likely will continue that way.

Once we dismantle the Kyriarchy as it is a huge part of the oppression of LGBTIQA people. Then it'll have a chance, and children seeing two people kiss wont be considered "unappropriate" because they aren't the cishet standard.

I'm against two people kissing in public no matter what their orientation. It could be man/man man/woman woman/woman, I've always felt that behavior was best saved for private. I just never been one for public displays of affection. Maybe it's because my family owned a bar and some of the scenes I saw as a kid were downright obscene.

The overwhelming majority of humanity would be fine with hunting us down and killing us. The Golden Rule is the best thing we have going for us.
As for teaching Gender Identity in school, teach what? Until the schools can do a decent job of the three R's, I'd rather not give them any other distractions, even for my own sake.
Humanity?
It is becoming increasingly apparent to me that there is a disconnect between "humanity" and the "human" race. The values underlining "humanity" no longer exist in any significant numbers. Everybody is I/me/mine and if you get in the way I will walk right over you, while slitting your throat.

Suing Humanity if this doesn't happen
I think you're expecting to much at this current period in time although I definitely would love to see it happen . As a old cd of almost 60 there has been vast improvements of acceptance and understanding for our community ,not fully realized by the younger members of the community .What you want will come in time but doubtful in the immediate future ,but the transgender movement is growing everyday and spawning greater acceptance as it grows and family members and friends seek to understand and accept .I believe when the saturation level effects enough families the need and desire for such a program will be realized and emerge .In the last 20 yrs vast accomplishments have been made in acceptance and this trend will definitely continue I believe due to environmental factors of right brain stimulation in this millennium and cosmic influences are scientifically predicted .Be patient my friend , it will come but not before its time ,when a greater percentage are ready to accept those new realities of our society .Our society is currently moving towards a gender neutral society and even the hardliners are not as adamant as they once were .

Good luck with the lawsuit, 2/3 of humans doesn't recognize Gender Identity as being real.
The first hurdle ...
The first thing that must happen in order for our world to become utopia is that everyone must take back their responsibility to hear all sides of any topic and THINK FOR THEMSELVES. Organized religion is founded on the concept of one person or a small group controlling the way their followers think, often to the exclusion of all outside influences.

Your determination is admirable.
The last thing you want to hear is some 67-year old fossil's opinion, but please consider that wisdom does sometimes accompany age.
Here's what I've painfully learned. Waiting for government to do the right thing is fruitless. I cannot emphasize enough that politicians are almost universally egocentric a-holes who are bought every day for much more than what they're worth. They seek issues like "trans-people" so they can shake down both sides of the argument for cash. They have absolutely no interest in creating a better world, beyond their own bank accounts. It would counter-productive for them to actually do something to change the situation that brings them money. That is the real reason we have nothing happening in Washington. For example: imagine how much money they can force from both sides over the pipeline.
There are exceptions. I'm sure there are rattlesnakes that would make fine pets for children, but the vast majority are lethal. Those few honest politicians are quickly marginalized or suffer a mysterious death (Like Paul Wellstone).
If you want a historical perspective, look to what actually caused the Civil Rights Act to be passed. You'll have to search for an accurate history book. If what you find suggests that Johnson wanted it passed, throw the book away. The Civil Rights Act passed because the people demanded it. NOT because the government wanted to do the right thing.
The internet has changed everything. There is open access to information today like there never has been in the past. Rather than wasting your time trying to get a curriculum change . . . that isn't going to happen within the foreseeable future . . . work outside the government to make true and lasting change.

By the way. Bringing a suit against the government is a lot like trying to stop the wind.
