The link below is a thought provoking article about a murder suicide, the murder victim being a transgender woman, the suicide her partner. The events took place in Brisbane, Australia, and the article is as much about the Australian media's treatment of what is essentially a tragedy for everyone concerned.

What that seems to miss...
What that article seems to miss is the reaction of the vocal part of the population to the headlines... People were not happy about the way that was reported and they did complain.

Media never gets it right.
Media, radio stations, newspapers, television stations, online blogs, NEVER EVER get it right. Their goal in life is to sell ad space, and attract eyeballs, or ears. If they need to fold, spindle, mutilate, or outright lie to get eyes and ears on their content, they will.
Journalistic ethics? They went out the window decades ago, along with the very few reporters that had any. I hear how television stations and reporters have won the "Edward R. Murrow Award" and shake my head at how the man must be spinning in his grave.
What Do You Expect?
From the Murdoch tabloid press....the very same stable as The News Of The World. The reporting in the Brisbane Courier Mail was particularly vile and there was a public reaction which forced them to change track the next day (but no apology of course). The Guardian's outrage seems to me to be pretty hypocritical too. They repeated many of the slurs printed previously under a guise of moral rectitude and condemnation, which I found totally unnecessary.
Nowhere did they mention that the girl was sending the money she earned home to her family in Indonesia to support them and to provide for the education of her two younger brothers....an all too familiar scenario amongst S.E. Asian sex-workers.
As it turned out after a couple of days further investigation the man who killed her (and himself) was also working as a male prostitute, although he had originally been depicted as a chef, but that wasn't as lurid as a transgender girl selling herself for sex, so it didn't get as many column-inches,

Is gunning for the Paul Joseph Goebbels propaganda award. Murdoch is cut from the same cloth and has no problem in creating a far right of Hitler's party world view using his extensive empire of publications. His contempt for truth and Democracy is legendary, Edited for audience sensitivity
