I have always wanted to write a FTM tale. Shotgun's Secret is my first attempt. It is based in part on an actual person, a woman who passed as a man and rode shotgun on a stagecoach line. Nobody suspected her true sex, and she passed as a man until her death.
I have also always wanted to write a story about The Lone Ranger. He was one of my heroes when I was young. Something about this larger than life masked lawman appealed to me. When I bought a pair of boots many years ago, I did not realize that I had bought harness boots with a square toe, the same style as worn by The Lone Ranger.
There is a code for writing Lone Ranger stories. The Ranger is always honest and fair, polite to women, and respects the traditions of Native Americans. He is never seen in a saloon or a house of ill repute unless he is disguised. He always uses correct grammar. Above all, he never shoots to kill, only to disarm.
I hope that I have done justice to the character.
