Antifreeze…Part 5.

“Shane.” I could feel the refusal in the way he said my name. The way that he is refusing everything I am.

“Steven….” I shiver but I feel Chris tighten his hold around me. God that helps so much.

“Why are you here? You think you’re welcome here?”

“Shut the hell up Steven.” Shawn says sort of snarling at him.

“Fuck you nerd, keep hiding behind you woman’s skirts. The little faggot shouldn’t be here.”

“Steven….” Uncle Roth says warningly.

“What? What you’re just here for what you can get Rothman. You never bothered with us before and now when things are all up in the air you’re here? The faggot’s here and….” He gestures at Chris. “And who the fuck is this?”

Chris just looked at him. “I’m your sister Shayne’s boyfriend.”

There's Something Bothering Daddy

There's Something Bothering Daddy
by Barbara Lynn Terry

It all started two days after school let out for the summer. I was sitting in the kitchen, and the Braves were playing the Dodgers, or so my daddy had told me. He wanted me to watch the game with him. That was this morning. When dinner was over, my mother and sister went to do the dishes. I decided to clean the dining room. Daddy was not too happy about me doing "women's work" as he called it.

So You Want To Be A Girl, Do You? - Chapter 6
by Barbara Lynn Terry

Part 1 - Hob nobbing at the social.

That night I dreamed about what it would be like at the social. I was going to live every girl's dream and attend a social on snob hill. I was introduced by the butler, and I was immediately surrounded by a pack of boys. They all wanted to know who I was, why haven't they ever seen me before. I was like, petrified, until this boy came and rescued me. We danced all day, and all I could see was approving smiles from Kathy.

(Author's note: I call this story The Camp Of The Willows, because I was fortunate enough to have gone there. This is not the real name of the camp. The camp is no longer there and it has been reforested. But while it was there, I had a lot of fun and learned quite a lot about who I am. ~Barbara~)

When I walked in the door, Sharon was sitting on the sofa talking on the phone. I heard her say, "all right, Miss Loretta". She saw me and hung up the phone.

"I thought you were going to come to the 'Tower' and join us."

Terry was very glad that his dad had not seen him in Nicole's clothes. He knew his dad had an open mind, but he didn't think his dad's mind was so open so as to see his son wearing girls clothes. It was alo good that Patti and Nicole Sanger only lived a few houses away from Terry.

Terry went back in the kitchen to help his mother with the dinner and to talk to her.

"Mom, why are there boys like Duane?"

Adam and the Three Wishes - Part 1/6

Adam and the Three Wishes, Part 1

By Portia Bennett

Introduction: What would you do if presented with three wishes, no strings attached? Yes, you'd have to be careful; however, there are no time constraints. You have all the time you need to figure out what you want. And, what would you do if those wishes would enable you to be the person on the outside that you were on the inside? That is only part of Adam Grunewald's dilemma.

This is another story in the Cynthia Chronicles series. Chapter 1 - Dr. Reed is given serious information.

As Jaime laid in bed after Dr. Reed left, she looked between her mother and her life long friend sitting on the edge of the bed. Darla was very worried about Jaime, because they actually used to do things together, much like Jaime and Danny did. Darla wasn't your girly girl, girl, she was more of the adventurous type, just short of being called a tomboy.

When they got "home" and for the holidays, home was Paul's house, they took Jean's new clothes to her room. Shelley helped carry the bags in, and was admiring her new clothes as Jean put them away.

"Jean, you are so lucky to be able to wear anything. I'd give my eye teeth to be able to be this small."

by Barbara Lynn Terry

The next morning, the sun was shining, but the temperature was like twenty degrees above zero. It was cold, so it called for warm clothes. I got out of bed, and looked through my dresser, and took out my jeans that had flowers on the back pockets, and my lingerie. I also took out a pair of knee high double knit socks. I went to my closet and got out my powder pink Angora sweater, and my insulated show boots.

Chapter 1 - Melanie and her mother.

As they left Glenn's Eatery, Marilyn said she wanted to go home, and then take a road trip to Wayne County to get all of their things. She said while she was there, she would call for a truck to bring their furniture to the new house.

As they drove in to the drive way leading to the house, they saw a green pickup truck by the front door. It was Melanie's uncle Jerry, well, really Gerald, but everybody just called him Jerry.

"Jerry, what are you doing here?"

Chapter 1 - In Glenn's Eatery.

Nate Wilkins and Naomi sat in a booth in Glenn's Eatery located in Jim's Hardware Emporium. When the waitress came over, Naomi ordered a cup of coffee for her and for Nate Wilkins.

"Nate, that didn't go over too well. Mr. Withers was holding something back and I am going to find out just what it is. I don't want you going off on the edge of that precipice called anger. You leave this up to me. This is what I get paid for. Is that a deal?"

Her Mother's Daughter - Chapter 15

Chapter XV - Jean's Homecoming Welcome

When we got to the student parking lot, Paul helped me get out of the car, and held my arm in case I stumbled. We walked to the Gamma Delta house, and as we went in, everybody yelled Surprise. There was a banner over the staircase that said Welcome Home Jean in great big letters.

Her Mother's Daughter - Chapter 14

Chapter XIV - Jean's Hospital Experience

When I woke up, mother was sitting by the bed. She looked at me with those concerned mother eyes, and then she wiped a hair away from my forehead.

"Honey, the nurses are telling me that you're not eating everything on your tray. Sweetie you have to eat, so you can get your strength back. You aren't going to gain any weight, because you won't be snacking between meals, and I will make sure of that. But you have to eat."

Her Mother's Daughter - Chapter 13

Chapter XIII - Jean's operation

That night I slept fitfully, constantly tossing and turning every which way. Lily had to wake me up a couple of times because she said I was having a nightmare. What it was about I haven't a clue, but they say that you can never sleep the night before an operation. I don't know if that was what it was, or not, but it was definitely something for Lily to wake me up over. I looked at the clock and it said five thirty. I figured I might as well get up, and take my bath. Bobbie is going to meet us at registration, and then go up to the room with me.

Chapter XII - Emily Settles In

Emily said she would need some help to move her things over from her apartment, but she also said she didn't have that much. Kendra, Debbie, Lydia, Connie, and I went with her to help her move in. I found out on the way to Emily's old apartment, that trying to get her to pledge Gamma Delta Phi was a sorority project. Everybody knew she belonged there, and everybody tried, but couldn't get her in the front door, much less to pledge.

Chapter 1 - Naomi uses a special talent.

Naomi drove to the truck stop without her siren blaring, because she didn't want to let the offender know that she was coming. As she drove along the highway, she saw a green, 1998 Ford sedan parked on the shoulder, just a little ways away from the truck stop. Naomi drove in to the truck stop, and Jim O'Donnell went to tell her what the situation was.

Her Mother's Daughter - Chapter 11

Chapter XI - Pledging Emily

After we were finished talking, Kendra went to her room, and I got ready for bed. This day had really been a good one for me. Paul took us out to dinner, and then took me to see one of my favorite movies. But I knew this movie by heart, and almost every line too. So it wasn't hard for me to just wander in my thoughts about Emily.

Chapter 1 - Just a little talk at Naomi's place.

As they were sitting there, enjoying their repast, Ms. Wells, the Home's superintendent came in the house.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I have received a notice. Rachel, you and your mother are being subpoenaed to court in Alameda County for the trial of Scott Derrick Watkins. You are to be there Monday morning, at nine o'clock. I'm sure your mother has received her notice, too."

"But, tomorrow is New Year's Eve."

Her Mother's Daughter - Chapter 9

Chapter IX - Mother And Shopping

It was going on midnight, and everybody was making their excuses that they were tired, so all the guests started leaving. Mother came over to me and gave me a big hug, and told me we were going shopping again on Sunday.

"I love to go shopping. Where are we going?"

"Well we need to get you a few more jeans and tops. Winter is going to be here very shortly. This is still fall yet, but very soon it will be very cold. You need warm clothes. So, we are going shopping on Sunday. Besides, now that I have my daughter, I want to dote on her a bit."

Her Mother's Daughter - Chapter 7

Chapter VII - Around the house

I woke up to the sun, and looked at my alarm. I had overslept and missed my morning classes. I wonder what Dr. Hinckle will say when I tell him why I missed his class? I went to use the bathroom, and Ken was just coming out.

"Ken, may I talk with you? I overslept and I don't think Dr. Hinckle is going to like why I missed his class."

"Come on sister, let's talk"

We went to her room, and she sat on her bed, and I sat in her desk chair.

"Ken, what happened last night? How did I get in bed?"

Her Mother's Daughter - Chapter 4

Chapter IV - Getting Ready For The Dance

Mother was standing there taking this all in, and when Paul called me a beautiful woman, mother just had to interject. "Paul that was a very beautiful compliment that you just gave Jean. I know you have been friends for a long time, but what I want to know is, if it came right down to it, would you make Jean your wife?"

"Well, you better tell me everything."

"Yeah? What if I don't?"

"Listen Rach, I'm the official historian of Rachel Eileen Watkins, and so help me, girl, I will spread you all over Pine Meadows...uhm...Home For Adolescent Girls." Both girls giggled.

Marilyn, of course, just had to ask.

"Do you girls often joke like this?"

"Yes, mom. We find it takes our mind off of things that bother us."

"Well, at least you aren't throwing tantrums and swearing."

Chapter 1 - Mom gets a present, too.

The girls were having so much fun opening their presents, that they didn't see Madelline come in. After going in the office and talking with Jack and Jan, and reading the report from Hazel, she went out in the living room. Jack and Jan slipped quietly out the door.

Joy, seeing Madelline standing there, fished around in the pile of presents, and found the one she was looking for.

"This one simply says, Mom." Joy stood up and gave Madelline her present.

"What is this?"

(Author's Note: There are 123 presents to open at the Pine Meadows Home For Adolescent Girls, and I will not go through all 21 girls opening their presents. You have to read and digest this chapter to understand why there are so many presents for only 21 girls. Barbara Lynn Terry)

"This next present is for Susan Connor." Joy handed Susan her present.

Chapter 1 - Shaiya is very awed by Naomi.

As they came up from the basement, Shaiya noticed Naomi playing a game of Twister with a few of the girls. Shaiya stood there in amazement of this deputy sheriff who puts people in jail and yet has time to help troubled girls have fun. There was laughing and giggling in this game.

As Naomi tripped over herself, Shaiya giggled.

"Naomi, you continuously amaze me. How is it that you have the energy and time to do this?"

"Do what, Shaiya?" Naomi asked, still lying on the floor.
