I am wondering how I can save authors that I am reading their series and want to return to that series or author. without having to go through several steps.

In similar circumstances I have used my browser's bookmarking system.
you can use bookmark here on BC
go to your account, and you'll see an option called "bookmark".
Half the answer
"Bookmarks" in "My Account" is only half the answer. Go there and they'll find a list of all the existing bookmarks they have made. This doesn't help getting the entries in there in the first place.
Fortunately, the answer is easy enough. At the bottom of each story there is a list of things one can do, including "Add new comment". Next to it is "++Bookmark", which adds the aforementioned entry to the reader's list.

In WORD (or another word
In WORD (or another word processor), copy the URL of the page you want. I title mine with the author's name for easy reference. Then I have a word document with the clickable URL in it.
