Tootsie' 'Was Never a Comedy for Me. I ran across this while surfing. While it may not be TG per say since Dustin Hoffman is an actor in a role, the interview really touched a place that had me crying.

Thanks For Posting

I had seen a reference to this on Yahoo, but wouldn't have looked at it without your posting here. Thank you.

Toot, Toot, Tootsie . . .

When Tootsie came out a review in Time magazine spoke to how much the movie was a biopic in that Dustin Hoffman had almost worked his way out of acting by being a complete pain-in-the-arse to direct, much like the character he played.

When Tootsie came out, and I went to see it, I found it to be

a sad satire, because Dustin Hoffman played a washed up actor who couldn't get a job as a man. But, as a woman, he had no problem. It is indeed a sad, sad, sad world. This also brings up the movie Mrs. Doubtfire, where the only way a father could get to see his children, was by becoming their female nanny. These two movies have a theme in common, because it left the male with no options, except to pose as a female. As I said, it is indeed a sad, sad, sad world.
