Hi everyone! :)

So, after spending a good while thinking about what kind of stories I wanted to write, I finally began at the other end.

"What?" You ask.
"Well, it's like this," I start to explain.

I always loved fantasy stories. Magic, elves, dragons - all of that. But, I didn't want to simply mooch a setting from someone. I had to make my own!
Turns out, creating a world is more work than you'd think! But it's a lot of fun, too. (I even made a map, too! Gasp!)

After providing all my characters a place to live in, the stories simply began to appear of their own, it almost felt like. All I had to do was to keep up and write everything down!

I should probably thank several authors here on BCTS (Penny Lane, Morpheus, among others) for placing the bar on world-making so high it made me spend that extra time putting everything together so it would make sense in the end. All of you are every shade of awesome!

Ooop! I think I hear my characters doing things without me again. I better take some notes for later!

Bye for now :D

Looking forward to it.

Sounds a wonderful project.

I'm debating whether or not to upload the map. It's a little... uh... unfinished in some areas :P

And, while I can't really imagine it providing any spoilers (geography doesn't really factor into the overarching plot), I'm not sure what good it would do either.

I'm mostly using it as a point of reference, and a place to jot down interesting locations.

Enquiring minds want to know

Hi Melange,

I'm Jo Dora Webster, an auburn haired, blue eyed, southern belle hailing from the great city of Atlanta, GA, USA. While I feel like a forty something that may be me trying to will time to stand still. In all truth, I'm glad that it doesn't since I kept my millenium resolution to transition as a transwoman on my original rebirthday July 6, 2000. I can trace my heritage to lowland Scotland and Ireland but I'm an American. I enjoy life out in the country, except when I am on my commute to work. I enjoy sipping mint juleps and writing stories in the hot tub late at night at the castle where I live. I also enjoy passing my time reading the latest romance, comedy or mystery from BCTS and getting outside for a weekend camping with my friends emulating a lady of the nobility in a world where chivalry is alive and well.

I've been around BCTS for almost five years. What I think of as my first real story was 'What Would Jesus Do?' that my sister of choice, Sasha Zarya Nexus, published for me on BCTS and I published under the name 'Jesus and the Transwoman' on a christian website which was just getting started then and has since disappeared called Faithvine. However I also 18 years ago put one story, 'Beauty and the Vial' out on Usenet and it made its way recently to BCTS unknowingly since I wrote it under a pen name. At present, posted on BCTS, I have eight novels and novellas started and only one of them finished. I also have three short stories posted.

That wasn't so difficult was it? Now it's your turn? Please, please please?

Now that you know a little about me, I would really love it if you could tell me what you could about yourself? I know I was a bit shy too in the beginning about letting out information and still keep some things secret. But enquiring minds would love to know a few generalities about you. For instance what is the origin of the name Melange? It's unusual and evokes an Australia / New Zealand air about it. Not really pushing if you don't want to share but I would really love it if I knew just a little more about you.

Hello!

Oh, my! That was an invitation to share if I ever saw one.

Hmm. In some ways, it's much easier to write fiction, than fact, but I'll give it a try just this once :)

Let's begin with a name, since that is how we often relate to one another. Melange is my nom de plume, of course, and despite its reminiscence of Austrian coffee or science-fiction drugs, I chose it because it means "mixed". Much like my feelings on many subjects, I enjoy (and sometimes regret) having several points of view on a matter. I've always been fascinated by people who stray from a single path in life, embracing multitudes, like changing careers or changing themselves. To me, our lives are far too short to focus on just one aspect of society, and we should let our hearts explore.

Like I've mentioned here and there before, I have always felt happy with expressing myself, especially in the written word. But until recently, I've only written short things, like poems, single scenes, and things like that. It's been very gratifying, though a lot of work, to create something larger like this current project of mine. I'm definitely starting to like it, since it allows me to create a whole world to play around in, and what better way to show people what's inside my heart, but to invite them into my world to have a look for themselves? :)

As for the rest, I about thirty years old and work as a nurse. I love learning about new languages and cultures, cook things I really ought to have a recipe for, and spending far too much time on tumblr. Oh, and I have central heterochromia - a yellow-gold ring around my irises.
