She got the results of the tests and MRI, and is now waiting word for when the surgery will be.

I read all of the comments to her about 20 minutes ago, and she wants me to thank everyone for their thoughts.

As many of you know, diabetes has cost her all of her toes over past years.

Now it seems that an infection may have spread a bit higher and she may need surgery to fix the problem. She's just had an MRI on it, which should settle the issue, but we may not know till tomorrow morning. But the doctor felt from regular X-Rays that it was 90% probable.

This will delay completion and posting of a new story she is working on. She's almost finished, just polishing it up.

Give her a hug from me and tell her to take care of herself first.

That totally bites, Holly

I have a juvenile diabetic cousin -- now in he early 50s -- and I fear for her health. So far so good with an insulin pump.

Cross you fingers.

I pray that Shelly will recover.

I enjoy and am educated by her take on life.

Mi Sheberakh -edited

For Shalimar

The Mi Sheberakh is the prayer said in Synagogues for the sick. Generally it is said after the Torah reading and is both an individual and community prayer. It is generaly said in Hebrew with the individual in need of healing Jewish/Hebrew name inserted at the proper point. I do not know Shelly's Hebrew name or that of her mother. When in doubt of a mother's name, the name Sarah, the first Matriach is used.

I JUST HEARD FROM HOLLY AND HAVE SHELLY'S PROPER HEBREW NAME, SO I HAVE EDITED THIS POST TO REFLECT THAT.

The prayer in English translation

May the One who blessed our ancestors --
Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
Matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah --
bless and heal the one who is ill:
Shaleemah Bat Nachmah. (Bat means daughter)
May the Holy Blessed One
overflow with compassion upon her,
to restore her,
to heal her,
to strengthen her,
to enliven her.
The One will send her, speedily,
a complete healing --
healing of the soul and healing of the body --
along with all the ill,
among the people of Israel and all humankind,
soon,
speedily,
without delay,
and let us all say: Amen!
