Job finding frustraitions...

I am soooooo frustrated right now. On April 8th, 2011 my employer of 21 years decided to liquidate the company and me and about 30 other coworkers were basically shown the door. We knew it wouldn't be good when we got word they were 23 million in debt. I'm trying to do the right thing and have sent out countless resume's as well as fill out applications but no one...NO ONE...is calling back. I think in the entire year I have only had 2 interviews...just 2...ugh!

It's so hard to keep your spirits up and not get depressed when this faces you each and every morning. I have even started looking 'outside the box', away from my degree for work but sadly, the only jobs out there seem to cater to a 16 year old. I keep hearing that employment numbers are on the upswing but I really don't see it in my area...and moving is not an option. So every day I'm scouring the job search websites and perusing through the paper.

I know I'm just an off key note in a big orchestra, but gosh this economy needs to swing around soon or it'll be too late for me and millions of other out of work Americans. It's pretty sad when one job has 1500 applicants...and our leaders say that 'We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel'...from where I'm standing, it sure looks like a train. I'm sorry, I'm rambling...I just need to vent some. I'll climb down from my box now. However, if you think of it, say a prayer for those like me...those who could use any help we can get. Sigh.

Thank God I still can write in my spare time...that's just about the only outlet I have other than the love of my dear family. Thanks for reading this and allowing me to vent!

my not as much outside the box as you think.

Sometimes you don't go looking for the posted job openings more than half of the available jobs are never advertized at all.

Talk to your friends and family, even if they hate you, you may get leads. There is always bacholors who cant cook or clean who are more than happy to have someone spend 2 hours a week cleaning doing laundry shopping etc.

some people don't realize half the skills they have, Cooking, cleaning, green thumbworks, that extra little something you put that turns a house into a home. All these are skills that others will gladly pay for.

First my condolences on the death of your 'career'.

You should post what kind of job you're looking for and how far away you're willing to move if you could get a job in another city.

If you're a software developer you should register on ODESK.COM as we will be posting jobs there for which you may apply and work at home. I don't represent ODESK but I do want you to get a job asap. It takes a couple of weeks to fully register with ODesk as there are tests you have to perform to verify your skills.
