Surfer High

Had another of my patentable weird dreams. This one was about a fictional high school in Malibu known by the nickname of Surfer High. In the dream, I was pitching this as a cable TV show.

One of the exec types says, "I like what you've done there, with the double meaning in the title. It's not a double entendre unless it's dirty, right?"

So the show opens with a slow dolly pan up the aisle of a high school classroom. Each student passed is doing something that is probably against the rules, from toking a joint to snogging a seat mate or copying answers from an obviously stolen test matrix. Up front the teacher has his head down. He's a middle-aged guy wearing thick black framed glasses but as we get closer we realize he looks familiar. When the camera stops in front of his desk with the noise of a rowdy classroom around us, he looks up and takes off the glasses. It's Sean Penn.

He looks very knowing and manages to glance at the ceiling in such a way as to communicate a "For my sins," complaint to God.

Another teacher comes in with a problem child. The teacher is a sexy looking redhead played by Molly Ringwald who is just short of wearing some sort of bondage costume with a tight leather skirt, fishnet stockings and high heels that have fake locks around the ankles. Her problem is that one of the boys in her class has been making comments and disrupting study and she wants Sean to do something about it since this kid is already on probation.

Sean calls the vice-principal in for a consult, he's in charge of discipline problems at Surfer High. The vice-principal comes in, he's wearing a clerical collar and it's Keanu Reeves.

At that point, I woke up laughing. :)

Hugs,
Erin

Brilliant! I'll be watching for it in my dreams...

David Milch (the amazing badlands-shakespearian series Deadwood)
and "Surf Noir" mystery writer Kem Nunn had a series that ran on cable
for a season or two called JOHN FROM CINCINATTI, which I never saw because
it sounded like a sitcom about some frumpy bachelor. NOW THEY TELL ME what
it was about + who it was by. Also the whole not-having-a-television thing
puts a real crimp in my TV viewing enjoyment.

Hey Erin,

At least it was a HAPPY dream.

If I were you I would IMMEDIATELY post a synopsis to all the studio execs. Who knows it might just be the hit of the season.

vivid dreams

Erin,
I was told some time ago by a GP that i am friends, with that vivid dreams are a throw back from your sub conscience to sort out the chaff from the wheat in your mind while you sleep,You are a busy person so the things that are on your mind through the day manifest themselves in your dreams:)
