Hatred as a Virtue

There will be no commenting allowed on this post, I just need to say this.

There's a bill in the legislature here in California that would extend the same protections and presence in educational curricula to sexual orientation and gender variation that are allowed and mandated for religious affiliation, ethnic origin and sex.

I've just been approached by a neighbor, under cover of giving me some homegrown tomatoes, to sign a petition to put repealing this law on the ballot before it even gets passed. I asked her what she thought it was about and she said it would require the teaching of homosexuality and transgenderism in public schools and people should be allowed to vote on that if they don't want it.

I said that's not what it's about and she replied, very quickly as if she had been scripted, "Well, it's not about bullying."

I said, "You've been misinformed," and walked away. I didn't know what to do with the tomatoes without returning her rudeness to her so I took them with me.

This is hatred, make no mistake about it. On this day of all days to be given proof like this that even in America, hatred is commonly taught as a religious virtue makes me sick at my stomach. I may have to go for a ride in the mountains or something to get this off my mind.

Please don't start another thread here to discuss this, I don't want it discussed because it would likely get rude and unfriendly to some people here who have the misfortune to be causally identified as the same religion as this neighbor of mine.

Thank you for listening.

Hugs,
Erin
