Unfriendliness

A certain amount of unfriendliness will be tolerated here. I just remove unfriendly posts and issue occasional warnings and explanations. But willfully pursuing another poster here with an obvious intent to cause harm will not be tolerated. Two people tonight went over the line and their accounts have been suspended. These same two have done this before and undoubtedly, if I were to reinstate their accounts, would do so again.

I'm debating whether to block them from accessing my servers, even whether I should inform other websters of their venom and malice. I probably won't do that last but this note is posted here as a warning. I will put up with only so much violation of the principles of this website. Then I will take action.

In case anyone doesn't get the full message, I am well and truly pissed off here.

I find the need for your intervention

extremely sad. Why can't we just agree to peacefully disagree on issues. This is suppose to be an adult site, so should expect people to behave like adults. It's also supposed to be a friendly site - which is explicit enough.

There are enough people out there who make lives for some of our members, and guests awful enough without internecine behaviour by members. So c'mon grow up and be courteous to each other.

Dead right!

Absolutely Angie. There's enough trouble for us without our own fighting amongst ourselves.

Well said...

While a few "youngsters" do visit the site (there is stuff her for them). The vast majority of us are legally, at least, adults. We should be expected to act that way. (Sadly, if you look at the evening news almost any day, you can find good "bad" examples of adult action.)

Thank you. I agree with your point.

My office even knows this is an adult site, and blocks it...

Forgot to add.

I only hope it wasn't any TV ... TS issue cos' very occasionally this crops up between us. It can be hard sometimes, trying to hold the ring when some of our group disagree over this. However, we don't 'fall out' over it.

Bye for now.

Hugs.

I have my suspicions as who's suspended & they needed spanking

Though IMHO it is okay to argue your point about a story and compare it with anothers, even to dispute their claims it MUST be done politely... no ifs ands or buts about it.

I know sometimes coments here push others buttons. Even thick skinned me gets ticked off at times by some comments. But when they were NOT meant to harm why get in a huff and nasty about it? POLITELY PM them and say that you thought their comment was insensitive and politely explain why. People don't get better because you scream at them, they improve when given honest, friendly advice.

If a comment/story goes way over the line PM Erin or one of her *elfs* and let them deal with it.

Remember emails and instant messages are very imperfect communication. No body language, tone of voice or a myriad number of other visual and tonal clues that make up the bulk of a conversation. So think twice before sending off a nasty gram. Okay?

I feel sorry for everyone involved in this latest mess. No one won, and we all lost in that BC is two members less now and others might be discouraged about staying here.

Fortunately the vast majority of the time we are a decent bunch here at BC.

Thanks again dear Erin for putting up with our occasional bad behavior.

Thank you for your patience.

I know that it is hard and upsetting to finally have to crack down on someone. Having been in that position before, I understand very well.

Much peace

Lack of manners?

It just seem today that there is a lack of manners and courtesy in society. Readers need to remember that what is written here is fiction. Authors post and I read. If I don't like the subject matter or treatment of the story line, I just exit the story and find something else to read. I have read some good story lines with atrocious spelling, grammar and formatting. Some I have seen reposted, after editing, become very enjoyable reads. I believe, comments should not be to judge a story/author, but to provides feedback on how well an author presents the story matter.

With our lack of manners today, too many think their views are the only one's that matter. Black and white thinking or as I like to phrase it "digital verses Analog thinking." for all you computer geeks. It is sad that Erin must suspend memberships and ban people, but, anyone who refuses to learn gets what they are asking for. Maybe they are doing it for the attention?

Just a tiny proportion

Erin

I can understand you being upset at this behaviour but remember that those two users are a tiny proportion of the thousands (or is it tens of thousands) of people who get so much from your site.

The best thing is to swear a few times and then remember the rest of us who think this is a fantastic site and try to behave like adults. Let's hope this type of event won't happen again for a long time.

Thank you Erin, for everything you do to make this a great place for the vast majority.

on a lighter note...lol

Just thought I would ask if there is another story contest in the offing somewhere. for all the adults with manners, I wish all great love and happiness. As for the crabby folks well I wish someone would poke you in the butt with pen, but than that would just dull the pen....lol...Thanks Joyce

Thanks BC....hope I got it right this time...lol
