Coming out to my family

Hi everyone.

I was struggling since before Christmas about coming out to my family and it was eating me from inside. I was a mess for a while and afraid of what would they think of me and how would they react. Finally a little over a week ago I came out to my parents and my brother. Their reaction was much better than I hoped for. They are still a bit skeptical about me being transgendered but they said they will support me whichever path I choose to take. I was even surprised by my brother that seemed to take the news pretty well. My father seemed to be hit the hardest but said he will love me either way.

Now I hope to be able to officially start my transition soon.

Hugs,
Andrea.

I saw your name...

...and I was reminded of your first story here, Heart to Heart.

”As it should always have been. You protected me, let me grow stronger so some day I could leave the shadows and have a happy life.”

We share much more than a name, dear one. I am so glad your family supports you and that you can move forward! How wonderful to read this today. My prayers to you!

I'm happy for you, and happier still, that

you have the chance to be you from so early in life, with family support.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Wonderful !

Admire your courage as I didn't have it to do so until after my parents died but now my brother knows.

Congratulations!

People are often more supportive than you can imagine. I'm glad you found that with your family. Good luck on the next stage of your journey!

I'm happy for you hon.

That support is a real bonus.

You've just started.

It's a long road girl and there'll be many emergency stops, hairpin bends, steep hills and rta's (Road Traffic Accidents.) but drive carefully, take your time and always think ahead. You'll have already done enough thinking astern (What ifs, if only I'd; and would it have been better if I'd?)

Good luck my girl,

Beverly.

Growing old disgracefully.
